Getting To
Your Tropical Dream In Troncones
Air Arrivals
Although you may find it difficult
to leave Tropical Dreams, getting here is
easy.

The
Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa International Airport (ZIH) is about 45 kilometres south of Troncones.
Thousands of passengers arrive weekly on Alaska
Airlines, America West, Continental,
AeroMexico and Mexicana,
mostly headed for the high-rise resort of Ixtapa.
Upon Arrival At The Airport
You may
choose from well known car rental companies such as Hertz,
Budget, EuropCar/National,
Dollar and Alamo. The price is
usually around US$50, payable in pesos or US dollars. There is a caja permanente
(an
ATM) at the airport, so you can get pesos before you leave there. If you didn't get pesos at
the airport, you can stop at a casa de cambio (money exchange) or caja
permanante in Zihuatanejo. Upon arrival in Troncones, you'll pick up the house keys from our
Troncones-based property manager, Anita La Pointe, and be on your way to the
house.
From Zihuatanejo to Troncones
The 35 kilometre
drive on the recently upgraded Highway 200 takes you past Ixapa, then through
the small communities of Salitrera, Pantla and Buena Vista before the left turn
to Troncones. If you are driving, watch for the white markers at the right side
of the road and the distances painted on the road surface. The turnoff for Troncones is just past the 31 km marker. And be sure to watch
out for "topes", the speed bumps you will find you in most
small communities in Mexico.
Our driving
log from the town of Petatlan north to La Mira, complete with photos, can make
your drive from the Zihuatanejo Airport easy. See it at the MilebyMile
website. In addition, we can email to you a driving log from the
airport to Tropical Dreams, complete with word description, distances and
photos.
Arriving in Troncones
The drive from the highway to "downtown" Troncones is
3.5 km (about two miles). You'll know you are there when you see the Pacific
Ocean and the road doesn't go any further straight ahead. (Click on the
link below for more details.)
You'll turn right at the "entronque" or T-intersection. Another
3.5 kilometres and
your Dreamin' Mexico begins.
